About EMH Group
East Midlands Housing Group provides over 8300 quality affordable homes for Rent and Shared Ownership throughout the East Midlands.
As well as homes for families and single people they include homes designed especially for the elderly and other individuals requiring additional support.
We care for our residents and the communities they live in and seek to ensure that access to our services is available to all members of the diverse communities we serve.
We also pride ourselves on providing more than homes and have helped to establish centres where people can meet and access education.
Who We Are?
The Group comprises of:
East Midlands Housing - a diverse independent not-for-profit organisation with an enviable reputation for innovation providing homes for people unable to compete on the open market. We are an Industrial & Provident Society with Charitable Objectives registered with the Housing Corporation as a Registered Social Landlord. We work closely with local authorities and specialised agencies to provide homes to address a wide range of needs.
Midlands Rural Housing - a specialist providing management and development services for county based rural housing associations. Village surveys and assessment of rural needs are undertaken for providers of rural homes.
Foundation Housing Association - joined our group in 2005 and brings a specialist housing resource for Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) groups. Foundation specialises in providing housing and support services in Leicester, catering for the needs of people from all cultures and other diverse needs of the local community.
East Midlands Housing (2000) Limited - a non-charitable company providing construction-training opportunities. Our most recent scheme was the conversion of a glove factory to 15 flats in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire by trainees.
Our History
With the support of the local co-operative movement Peter Elderfield and other returning ex-serviceman formed the association to provide post-war homes for people who would now be known as key workers. The association has provided affordable quality homes for rent or ownership throughout the East Midlands for many years and in 2006 we celebrated our 60th anniversary.
